Which treatment to choose after the Dubai summer: an honest guide by how you’re arriving
September is probably the month most women come through the door of my Arabian Ranches studio saying the same thing: “I don’t quite know what I need, I just know I need something”. After four or five months of extreme heat, constant air conditioning, travel that doesn’t fully rest, return home and the reorganisation of the whole family, the body and the soul arrive at September unsettled — and choosing the right treatment is not always obvious. In this article I help you do it. I tell you the six most common situations I see every autumn in consultation, which treatment suits each one, and when combining several is wise. No big promises, no inventions, no selling you something you don’t need. Just the truth of what I see work.

The tools I work with at my studio. The good news is you don’t have to pick among all of them — only find the one that fits you today.
The essentials for choosing your post-summer treatment
After the Dubai summer, the body usually needs one of these six forms of care: releasing
tension (therapeutic massage), easing heavy legs (lymphatic drainage), lowering anxiety
(Reiki), reactivating the skin (body massage with dry brushing), letting emotions move
(Bach + session), or recovering sleep (aromatherapy + Reiki). The free 15-minute initial
consultation exists precisely to decide together.
- Physical tension: therapeutic or aromatherapy massage
- Retention and AC fatigue: manual lymphatic drainage
- Anxiety / busy head: Reiki with chakra balancing
- Dull skin: body massage with dry brushing
- Accumulated emotions: Bach formula + session
- Broken sleep: personalised aromatherapy + Reiki
Why the body needs to be thought about in September
Summer in Dubai is demanding for the body, even if you travel away. If you stay, you live between AC and extreme heat, you sweat little, you move less, you eat differently, you sleep worse. If you leave, you add long flights, jetlag, climate changes, different meals, dislocated children. In either case, September is the first month your body asks to come back into place.
What I see in consultation every autumn follows very clear patterns:
- The lymphatic system has slowed down from months of little real movement and a lot of AC.
- The skin has lost glow and tone — water that doesn’t enter, sebum that doesn’t flow, sun exposure poorly recovered.
- The nervous system has been weeks without entering real rest mode.
- The emotions of summer — joy, exhaustion, family conflicts, goodbyes — are floating around unprocessed.
- Sleep has shifted because of schedules, travel and, in many cases, perimenopause.
That’s why thinking about which treatment suits you is not a whim. It’s logic. And choosing well marks the difference between spending your time and money on a session that wasn’t yours and turning that same care into something deeply restorative.
Before choosing: two questions that bring clarity
Before looking at the options, pause for a moment. These two questions, asked with honesty, usually clarify — for me and for you — what you need:
Which part of you is more tired today: the body or the soul? If the answer is “the body, clearly”, we’re probably looking at something more physical — massage, drainage, dry brushing. If the answer is “the soul, or both”, we also enter Reiki or Bach Flowers.
What would make you feel better tomorrow on waking? “Less neck pain”, “lighter legs”, “having cried and let go of something”, “having slept seven hours in a row”. The most sincere answer usually points directly to the right treatment.
If you don’t have clear answers, the free 15-minute initial consultation is designed exactly for this: so we decide together, without pressure, what fits your moment.
If your body is loaded with tension → therapeutic massage
It’s the first reason women call me in September. Tense neck, clenched jaw, shoulders that seem glued to the ears, contracted back. Sometimes even tension headaches or cervical vertigo. If this sounds like you, what you need is not energetic — it’s manual and deep.
The therapeutic massage works specifically on the contracted muscle chains, releases knots, returns mobility and decongests the system. It is not a spa massage: it is not for “relaxing” in the soft sense — it is for fixing something concrete.
At my studio, the therapeutic massage works with:
- A prior diagnosis of which areas are contracted.
- Pure vegetable oil without unnecessary perfumes.
- Deep manoeuvres adapted to your tolerance level.
- Fascia work and trigger points where it hurts most.
- Gentle stretches at the end to integrate the release.
If the tension is very localised (neck, shoulders), I also offer the back/neck/shoulders massage with infrared light — shorter and very effective for targeted release. If you want to go deeper into how we work the body from a holistic angle, my article on holistic massage: what it is gives you the full detail.
If you have heavy legs and retention → manual lymphatic drainage
If what you feel at the end of the day is heavy legs, swollen ankles, clothes tighter than usual, marked under-eye circles, a sense that the body doesn’t flow, your lymphatic system is most likely asking for help. This is very common after summer for two reasons: AC reduces sweating (an important elimination pathway) and heat leads to moving less.
Manual lymphatic drainage is a specific technique, slow and deep, that reactivates lymphatic circulation and helps the body eliminate what has been retained. It is not a relaxing massage — it is a clinical technique with measurable effects:
- Reduces retention in legs, ankles, abdomen.
- Decongests the face (under-eye circles, morning puffiness).
- Improves the sense of a lighter body from the first session.
- Activates the elimination that summer had left slow.
- Improves sleep on the following nights.
It is usually recommended in cycles of 3 or 5 sessions for sustained results. At my studio there are specific packs for this. My article on facial lymphatic drainage explains more about how we work the face area.
If what weighs is emotional or anxious → Reiki with chakra balancing
If what you carry isn’t physical — or isn’t only physical — but a busy head, a sense of not stopping, a knot that’s hard to name, sustained anxiety, emotional exhaustion, then what you need is to work on the energetic plane. Reiki is the kindest tool for this.
In a Reiki session with me, you do nothing. You lie dressed on the table and I work. The session always follows the same ritual: opening with the Tibetan bowl, energetic reading with the pendulum, intuitive work on the chakras, aura clearing and closing with the bowl. One hour of deep silence where the nervous system remembers what calm feels like.

The treatment table set up for a Reiki session at my Arabian Ranches studio. Everything is arranged so you don’t have to do anything at all — only receive.
Reiki is especially useful after summer if you’ve lived:
- Coming back home with everything emotional that travel dragged along (in-laws, conflicts, goodbyes).
- Hard-to-manage kids with your nervous system already on chronic alert.
- Insomnia in the last month with a mind that won’t stop.
- A sense of “I haven’t rested at all” despite the summer.
If you want to go deeper, my article on Reiki for anxiety explains in detail how it works on the nervous system.
If your skin asks for full care → body massage with dry brushing
If you arrive at September with dull, rough skin, lacking glow, with keratosis on elbows and knees, swimsuit marks, dryness accumulated by AC, there is a treatment that works very well at my studio: body massage with dry brushing.
It is a 90-minute treatment that combines:
- Dry brushing with a natural fibre brush on clean dry skin, following the path of the lymphatic system. It stimulates circulation, exfoliates, and prepares the skin.
- Body massage with pure vegetable oil (sweet almond or jojoba) and essential oils adapted to your moment. Nourishes the skin from outside and decongests from inside.
The result on waking up: renewed, brighter, softer skin; lighter body; rested mind. It is one of the treatments I most recommend in September because it combines visible result (skin) and deep rest (body).
If you need to let go of accumulated emotions → Bach formula + session
Sometimes what you carry from summer isn’t physical or a clear tiredness. It is something harder to name: a soft sadness, an unspoken grief, an emotional discomfort with your partner or family, an inner change you haven’t quite digested. For this, the finest treatment I have is the combination of Bach Flowers with one or two sessions.
We work like this:
- Bach consultation (50 minutes) — we speak in depth about your moment, I identify the flowers that best hold you, we prepare your personalised formula together.
- Personalised formula — combines 4-7 flowers, taken four times a day for three weeks.
- One or two Reiki or massage sessions during those three weeks — to accompany the emotional process with physical presence.
Bach Flowers are one of the kindest tools I know: they have no contraindications, they are compatible with any medication, and they work on the emotion that sustains the pattern. My article on how to work with repressed emotions explains more about this approach.
If you’ve been sleeping badly for weeks → personalised aromatherapy + Reiki
If the most visible part of your exhaustion is sleep — you struggle to fall asleep, you wake at 3, you don’t rest, you get up more tired than when you went to bed — the most useful care is usually the combination of personalised aromatherapy + Reiki.
Clinical aromatherapy works directly on the limbic system and the nervous system response. A personalised sleep formula — prepared in consultation with oils like lavender, neroli, marjoram or vetiver — is applied one hour before sleep as a roll-on or foot massage oil. It changes how you enter the night.
Combined with a fortnightly Reiki session, sleep usually restructures in 4-6 weeks. If you want to go deeper, my article on chronic insomnia in women details this approach honestly, including when medical assessment is wise.
The free initial consultation: why we start there
Now the most important part. If after reading all of this you still don’t know clearly what fits you best — that’s completely normal. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation to every new woman: by phone, video call or in person.
Those 15 minutes serve to:
- Have you tell me how you’re arriving, without dressing anything up.
- Ask you the key questions to understand your moment.
- Honestly explain what treatments would fit you and why.
- Decide yourself, without pressure, if you want to book a session and which one.
I don’t sell packages you don’t need. I don’t push extra sessions. My work, and my reputation, depend on me recommending the right thing — not the most expensive. If what suits you is a single massage session and not coming back until January, that’s what I’ll tell you.
Also, new clients receive a 10% discount on their first treatment.

Frequently asked questions
Can I combine several treatments?
Yes, and many times that’s what I recommend. The most common: a lymphatic drainage + a Reiki session in the same week, or a therapeutic massage session + Bach formula over three weeks. In the initial consultation we design the plan that makes sense for you.
How many sessions do I need to feel changes?
It depends on the treatment and what you’re carrying. For therapeutic massage, one session already makes a difference. For lymphatic drainage, a cycle of 3-5 sessions gives visible results. For Reiki in sustained processes, 4-6 sessions across two or three months are usually enough. For Bach, three weeks with the formula and then we review.
What if after summer all I want is to relax for an hour?
Perfect. I have a relaxing massage with aromatherapy (60 or 90 minutes) designed exactly for that. It isn’t clinical, it isn’t energetic — it is one whole hour of kind physical care. It is one of the most booked treatments by women who haven’t stopped in months.
Do you only see women?
Yes, my practice is designed and dedicated exclusively to adult women. It is a decision I made years ago to be able to build a truly safe and specialised space.
Do you have packages for multiple sessions?
Yes, for manual lymphatic drainage and massage there are packs of several sessions at a reduced price. The up-to-date details are on the Treatments page. In consultation we look together at whether a pack or single sessions suit you better.
What if I’m not sure what I need?
That’s why the free 15-minute initial consultation exists. You can book it by phone, video call or in person — and without commitment to book a session afterwards. My job is to help you decide well, not to sell you something.
And what if what’s happening to me after summer is more serious — depression, strong anxiety, chronic pain?
Then, alongside any holistic care, I recommend seeking adequate professional support: a psychologist, a doctor, a specialised physiotherapist. Holistic care accompanies, it doesn’t replace. The combination of the two approaches — holistic and clinical — is what I see working best in sustained cases.
