Aura cleansing: what it is, what it’s for and how I do it in my Dubai studio
The aura is the subtle energy field surrounding the physical body — a layer of vibrational information that gathers, reflects and becomes charged with everything we live: our own emotions and other people’s, states of health, environments, relationships. When that layer is clean and harmonised, you feel mental clarity, stable energy and connection with your body. When it gets loaded — through chronic stress, repressed emotions, dense environments or continuous contact with energetically demanding people — symptoms appear that many women experience daily in Dubai: tiredness without cause, the sense of “carrying something”, emotional confusion, difficulty resting. In this guide I explain, from my daily practice as a holistic therapist, what the aura really is, how I cleanse and seal it in consultation, and what tools you can use at home.
The essentials of aura cleansing
The aura is the energy field that surrounds the body. It gets “dirty” with stress, repressed
emotions, dense environments and contact with energetically demanding people. A professional
cleansing includes field reading, removal of charges, harmonisation and sealing. Most of my
clients notice a clear shift from the first session.
- What the aura is: subtle energy field around the body, organised in 7 layers
- How it loads: stress, own and others’ emotions, dense environments, continuous contact with demanding people
- Symptoms of a loaded aura: tiredness without cause, “carrying something”, emotional confusion, poor sleep
- What cleansing includes: reading, removal of charges, harmonisation and field sealing
- Session in Dubai: integrated into Reiki or as a specific session, from AED 300 at Rosana Holistic Studio
- Frequency: cycles of 3-5 sessions, then monthly maintenance

Some of the tools I use in consultation to cleanse and seal the auric field: Himalayan salt, sage, palo santo and clear quartz.
What is the aura and why does it matter?
The aura is the subtle electromagnetic and energetic field that envelops the physical body. It is not something “mystical” or new: it has been described and worked with by spiritual traditions around the world for thousands of years — from Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism to Christian traditions (the halos in religious iconography are representations of the aura).
In the 20th century, Kirlian photography showed for the first time in a reproducible way the existence of an energy field around living organisms — plants, animals, human hands. Academic science is still discussing exactly what that phenomenon represents, but its visible existence is objective.
In my way of working — and in the tradition of energetic therapy in which I trained — the aura is organised into 7 layers or bodies, each one associated with a dimension of human experience:
- Etheric body: the closest layer to the physical body. Reflects immediate physical health.
- Emotional body: holds current emotions and recurring emotional patterns.
- Mental body: thoughts, beliefs, cognitive patterns.
- Astral body: relationships, bonds, connections with others.
- Etheric-template body: deep identity, life purpose.
- Celestial body: spiritual connection, intuition, wider perception.
- Causal body: the most subtle layer, where deep soul experiences are inscribed.
These seven layers are not separate — they interweave, influence each other, and together form what I call “your field”. When one layer becomes imbalanced, the others feel it. That is why an aura cleansing isn’t a single gesture but work in several dimensions simultaneously.
How does the aura get “dirty” or imbalanced?
The aura doesn’t get loaded by chance. After a decade in consultation, these are the most common causes I see:
Chronic stress and living in hyper-alert
Sustained stress not only exhausts the physical body — it densifies the auric field. The constant activation of the nervous system leaves an energetic “imprint” that is perceived as a loaded, contracted, dim aura.
Long-repressed emotions
When an intense emotion — unprocessed grief, held-back anger, chronic fear — finds no outlet, it stores itself in the auric field, especially in the emotional layer. Many times what I perceive as “load” in a client is exactly this.
Continuous contact with energetically demanding people
This happens a lot in Dubai: jobs with intense human contact, young children who need a lot, partners or relatives in crisis, customer-facing roles, caregiving professions (therapists, nurses, teachers). If you are a sensitive or empathic person, you absorb part of the energetic state of those around you. And if you don’t learn to release that load, it accumulates.
Dense environments
Spaces with accumulated emotional tension — toxic offices, homes with unresolved conflicts, places with difficult history — leave a mark on those who spend time in them. It isn’t superstition: it is the experience of many clients who change jobs or homes and feel how they “breathe” differently.
Emotional shocks and traumas
One-off events — grief, an accident, unexpected news, betrayal — can leave the aura fissured or with “holes” that take time to seal on their own. Here cleansing and sealing are especially important.
Digital saturation
Hyper-connection, constant screens, social media with others’ emotional charges: all of that also passes through the auric field and loads it. It is one of the issues I have seen grow most in consultation in recent years.
Symptoms of a loaded aura
These are the signals my clients most often report — and which usually improve very quickly with a couple of energetic sessions:
- Constant tiredness without clear medical cause (with normal tests)
- Sense of “carrying something” that doesn’t quite release
- Emotional confusion: you don’t quite know what you feel, or why
- High emotional reactivity: you cry or get irritated at small things
- Insomnia or unrefreshing sleep even with enough hours
- Sense of “not being myself” after spending time with certain people
- Tendency to fall ill easily, especially after intense social events or meetings
- Difficulty concentrating, scattered mind, reading that doesn’t “go in”
- Feeling drained after being in large groups or dense environments
If you recognise several of these symptoms and find no clear medical cause, it is very likely your field needs professional cleansing and sealing.
What do I do during an aura cleansing?
An aura cleansing isn’t a single or decorative gesture. It is energetic work in several stages combining reading, removal of charges, harmonisation and sealing of the field. In my consultation, it usually integrates into a Reiki session or chakra work, but I also offer it as a specific session when a client requests it.
1. Reading the field
Before intervening, I read. With the pendulum I travel the 7 layers of the auric field, identifying where there is density, where there are “holes”, where colour is loaded, where there is tension. Without this initial reading, the cleansing is generic — and therefore much less effective.
2. Energetic “sweeping” work
With my hands a few centimetres from the body, I make gentle sweeping movements from head to feet, releasing toward the floor the load I perceive. This work is noticeable: many clients describe a sensation of “releasing something” they couldn’t identify.
3. Complementary elements
Depending on the case, I integrate:
- Sound of the Tibetan singing bowl to “vibrate” the densest layers
- Clinical aromatherapy: frankincense, palo santo, myrrh — oils traditionally associated with energetic cleansing
- Specific crystals: clear quartz (clarification), black tourmaline (protection), selenite (deep cleansing)
- Salt: in some cases I use Himalayan salt in small dishes around the body
4. Harmonisation and rebalancing
Once the load is removed, I accompany the field back to its natural order. This phase includes Reiki work if the session integrates it. The goal isn’t only “to cleanse” — it is to give back to the energetic system its capacity to self-regulate.
5. Sealing the field
This is, in my opinion, the most important phase and the one often skipped in rushed consultations. A clean but unsealed aura loads up again within hours. Sealing is the work of closing the field, mending fissures and reinforcing the energetic edges of the aura. I always do it at the end of the session, with specific hand movements and, sometimes, with the support of crystals and protective oils.
6. Closing with Tibetan bowl
As in all my sessions, I close with the bowl. The sound anchors the work done and returns the client to ordinary consciousness gradually and respectfully.

How many sessions do you need?
My honest answer, based on what I see every week:
- For a one-off cleansing (after a difficult event, a dense trip, a complicated visit): 1 session is usually enough, especially if you follow up at home with salts and aromatherapy.
- For sustained processes (chronic stress, intense emotional period, post-relationship recovery, post-partum): cycle of 3-5 sessions spaced every 1-2 weeks.
- If your profession exposes you continuously (therapist, teacher, healthcare worker, carer): one session every 3-4 weeks as maintenance. Many caregiving professionals in Dubai do this, and it is a very powerful form of preventive care.
- After grief or important shocks: 3 sessions close in time (week 1, week 2, week 4) to accompany the process with the field sealed.
I don’t recommend overly frequent cleansings (more than one per week) because the field needs time to settle after the work. More is not better — well done and with space is better.

The closing ritual I teach clients to do at home: Himalayan salt and rosemary, in a warm bath, to seal the work of the session during the following 24-48 hours.
Tools you can use at home between sessions
One of the things I love most about aura cleansing is that much of the maintenance you can do yourself. What I recommend to my clients:
Himalayan salt and rosemary bath
Once a week, a warm bath with a handful of Himalayan pink salt and fresh rosemary sprigs (or rosemary essential oil). The salt draws energetic charges and minerals that the bath water “takes away”. 20 minutes immersed, in silence, no phone. On exiting, let cold water run for a few seconds over arms and legs to seal.
Conscious shower with visualisation
For intense days. In the shower, imagine the water sweeping from head to feet everything that isn’t yours. I’ll tell you plainly: it works. Combine the physical sensation of water with the intention to release. Clients who practise it describe it as “a small session every day”.
Clinical aromatherapy for energetic cleansing
The oils I most use in consultation and recommend for home:
- Frankincense (Boswellia carterii): deep cleansing and elevation
- Palo santo (Bursera graveolens): the most versatile, perfect to begin
- Myrrh: very intense cleansing, especially useful after grief
- White sage (smudged or as oil): traditional for “sweeping” densities
Maintenance crystals
To carry in your bag or keep close:
- Black tourmaline: the most recommended “shield” for sensitive people
- Clear quartz: clarifies and elevates the field
- Selenite: gentle and constant cleansing; I recommend keeping a piece next to the bed
About crystals: what matters is cleansing them regularly (running water, salt, full moonlight) because, when they absorb charges, they also need care.
Marking your energetic boundaries
This isn’t an object, it’s a practice — and it is the most powerful one. Learning to say no, not to absorb what isn’t yours, to leave toxic conversations without guilt. Energetic tools work much better when there is a conscious intention to care for yourself.
Combinations that boost aura cleansing
Aura cleansing rarely works as an isolated session — it is part of a wider piece of work. The combinations I most use in consultation:
- Cleansing + Reiki: once the field is cleared, Reiki enters with much greater depth. It is the most complete combination.
- Cleansing + chakra work: both are needed. External charges live in the aura, internal ones in the chakras. Working both planes gives a much deeper shift.
- Cleansing + Bach Flower remedies: the Flowers sustain the work at home, especially Walnut (protection from external influences) and Crab Apple (deep cleansing).
- Cleansing + clinical aromatherapy: specific oils during the session + roll-on to take with you.
- Cleansing + Tibetan singing bowl: the bowl’s sound multiplies the effect of vibrational cleansing.
Frequently asked questions about aura cleansing
How do I know if I need an aura cleansing?
If you recognise 3 or more of the symptoms I described (unexplained tiredness, “carrying something” sensation, emotional confusion, poor sleep, high reactivity, feeling drained at social events), a cleansing can bring you very clear relief. If the symptoms are medical, please consult your doctor first: aura cleansing accompanies, it doesn’t replace medical care.
Is aura cleansing the same as chakra cleansing?
Not exactly. The aura is the field around the body; the chakras are the energy centres within the body. In practice I work both planes almost always, but they are two distinct things. A complete aura cleansing ideally includes chakra work.
How long do the effects of a cleansing last?
It depends on how much you care for your field afterwards. With no maintenance, effects last between 1 and 3 weeks. With home maintenance (weekly salt bath, aromatherapy, boundary practice), they can last much longer — and many clients keep the effect with a session every 4-6 weeks.
Can I cleanse my aura myself without a session?
Partially yes. Salt baths, visualisation in the shower, and aromatherapy work for maintenance. But the deep sealing of the field, especially after significant shocks, usually needs professional work with prior reading and specific techniques hard to replicate alone.
Is aura cleansing safe?
Completely. No physical contraindications, no medication interference, safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding, and compatible with any medical process. It is one of the safest forms of energetic work.
How much does an aura cleansing cost in Dubai?
At my studio, if integrated into a Reiki session, it is included in the base session price (AED 300 for 60 minutes). As a longer specific session, with pendulum reading, cleansing tools and complete sealing (90 minutes), starts at AED 400.
